Some progress towards an evidence-based spatial framework for the analysis of Australasian labour markets / communities – applications and future directions

James Newell

This presentation was made to the "Work Directions" Group of the Department of Labour in Wellington on the 18th June 2010.

The presentation takes an overview of work done by MERA towards an Australasian labour market areas spatial framework. It includes some key results presented at the earlier 15th April Auckland Regional Council / Population Association of NZ seminar. The indicative draft Auckland labour market subcatchment classification presented at the earlier seminar is updated with final filtered and cleaned sub-catchment boundaries for Auckland. The presentation goes on to explore some of the future directions for work in this area.
